The EYFS is divided across the 7 areas of learning. We focus on independence to create happy, confident little learners.
Sing songs and say rhymes independently.
Enjoy sharing books with an adult, having a favourite book and sharing this.

Asking questions and commenting on books, sharing ideas.
Give meaning to mark making.
Understanding single words in context and simple instructions, recognising and pointing to objects.
Listen to people talk but become distracted and can find it difficult to be directed by an adult.
Develop conversation and pretend play making themselves understood becoming frustrated when not.
Listen and understand simple stories.
Enjoy kicking and throwing balls, building with a range of resources.
Use a range of movements such as run, jump, climb, spin and roll.
Use fine and gross motor skills, wanting to be independent eg putting on shoes, not holding hands to walk up stairs, using knife and fork etc.
Explore different materials both indoors and outdoors.
Explore and respond to different natural phenomena in the nursery and on trips.
Notice differences between people, making connections between their families and others.
Feel strong enough to express emotions growing in independence, rejecting help leading to feelings of frustration and tantrums.
Begin to show control and start to manage and talk about emotions.

Learn to use the toilet.
Exploring paint, using fingers and other body parts, starting to make marks intentionally.
Enjoy and take part in action songs, exploring sound makers and instruments.
Express ideas and feelings through mark making.

Counting in context but skipping some numbers.
Climbing, building and squeezing selves into spaces comparing sizes and weights.
Noticing patterns and completing puzzles.
